Celebrating National Poetry Month

Nature Poems

We're celebrating National Poetry Month! Throughout the month of April, poets and poetry will be featured and thanks to JSTOR Daily, links to classic American poets and their poems will be offered as well.

And in honor of Earth Day on April 22nd, we will recognize poems about nature.

JSTOR Daily's, Ten Breathtaking Nature Poems, piece states the following: "From the ancient Greeks to the late Renaissance revival of pastoral poetry, nature has been a classic topic for poems. In honor of National Poetry Month, we've gathered some examples of verse about some of the wonders of nature, from the landscape to the animals, from the splendor of the seasons, to the simplest slant of light."

They've chosen the following ten poets and their works of poetry with a focus on nature: Sylvia Plath, Mary Oliver, Dylan Thomas, Meghan O'Rourke, Ellen Bryant Voigt, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Sakutaro Hagiwara and Makoto Ueda, Charles Simic, Judith Minty, and Robert Cording.
