April is National Poetry Month

Friday, April 2, 2021

This year marks the 25th anniversary of National Poetry Month and there are many ways to celebrate the occasion. Follow social media celebrations with the official hashtag #NationalPoetryMonth and follow the Academy of American Poets on Twitter and Instagram @POETSorg. Go to 30 Ways to Celebrate the 25th Annual National Poetry Month for ideas and engagements throughout the entire month of April.

Once again JSTOR Daily is posting various stories about poets, and offering free links to contemporary and classic American poems.

The library's collection has over 500 physical poetry books and thousands in ebook format - click here and here to see a small sampling. Many of our databases like Project Muse, ARTFL Project, and Loeb Classical Library include works of poetry.

And for a bit of poetry trivia - did you know that Delaware's State Poets Laureate are twin brothers? That's right, Delaware lays claim to Twin Poets, Nnamdi O. Chukwuocha and Al Mills. They are both licensed social workers and were the subjects of the award winning documentaries, Why I Write and Art for Life. To read some of their poetry, click here.
