The 2020 Summer Reading and Enrichment pages can be found here. Under the Summer Reading List tab you will find over 50 recommendations from SAS faculty with descriptions of the books as well as direct links to Amazon for easy ordering. From those selections you are to choose one book. The books that have been chosen for required reading, The Poet X and Homegoing will be mailed to you shortly. Both books have been selected for multiple awards and we are so fortunate to have both authors, Elizabeth Acevedo and Yaa Gyasi visiting campus next year.
The menu on the left of the Introduction page, displays a number of suggestions, ideas and resources as well as classes offered by each department of the School. Please note the June 15th deadline for contacting teachers regarding their course offerings. Check this page from time to time as it will continue to be updated throughout the summer. If you encounter any difficulty with the summer reading pages, please email: library@standrews-de.org. With all of these great suggestions by your teachers, we know you will want to read more than three books. To that end, many of the recommended titles can be found in the library's OverDrive digital library, designed to make your reading convenient!
And remember Mrs. Roach's suggestions: "Read every day. Carry a book with you. Keep a book by your bed. Substitute a half hour of Netflix or Facebook or computer games every day, with a half hour of reading. Absorb yourself in your reading material."
