Summer Reading 2025

required summer reading

The 2025 Summer Reading list has been published. There are over 60 offerings from your teachers, coaches, advisors, and mentors with a brief description of each book. You will see a selection of both fiction and nonfiction. All students are required to read at least one book from this list.

All III Formers are required to read Gather by Kenneth Cadow, rising IV Formers are required to read Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel and all rising V Formers are required to read The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga along with one book from the summer reading list.

All rising VI Formers are required to read two selections from their exhibition texts that can be found here. Important to note - If you are a VI Former and have selected Humanities rather than AS English 4 - please scroll down the page as the selections are a bit different.

Please read thoroughly the letter from Ms. Pressman that appears at the top of the page of the summer reading list as it contains important information. We understand students do not have a lot of time during the academic year to delve into pleasure reading - this is your chance!

At the bottom of Ms. Pressman's letter, you will see a link to Mr. Tower's Math letter to ALL students. Please be sure to click on this link, it too contains important information regarding summer work. For environmentally responsible book buying, Director of Sustainability, Ms. Buxbaum, has prepared a list for you of places to consider making your book purchases.

Please read broadly and widely this summer. Don't limit yourselves to what is on the summer reading list. Perhaps you enjoy poetry, graphic novels, periodicals; anything that will expand your mind.

Here's hoping you have a relaxing, fun-filled summer, with lots of time for reading and we look forward to seeing you in September!
